Why does a Wedding DJ cost more than a mobile disco?
The effort put into a wedding is usually a lot more than other type of events, such as a school disco or birthday party. With a school disco or birthday party if something goes wrong, although annoying, there's always next time. A wedding, on the other hand, should be your one off special event, so you want it to be special and I don't want to let you down. This is why I take the time to plan a wedding and ensure that your event runs smoothly, and so a wedding takes up more of my time than a typical disco.
Online Music Request
We will always do our best to choose the music best suited to the occasion and atmosphere to keep everyone dancing.
Meeting At The Venue Prior To The Big Day
I will meet my clients in advance at the venue to listen to what you are looking for from me as a Wedding DJ. This also provides me with the opportunity to confirm where to setup and liaise with the venue to check their arrangements, I would much rather solve a problem months in advance rather than delay the reception.
Early Setup
If the venue has the space this is ideal if you want to have the music playing straight after the meal rather than waiting for us to setup. I'll arrive prior to your guests arriving and have the disco ready to start as soon as you are, with the benefit of background music during the meal if required. With this service I'll also stay with the equipment which will allow greater flexibility with the background music and I'll be able to provide microphones for the speeches and any announcements required.
Background Music During The Wedding Breakfast
Creating the perfect atmosphere as everyone walks into your venue will be important to you, I can provide background music to lighten the mood to avoid any awkward silent moments. The volume won't be loud, in fact you'll probably not notice unless it stops but nether-the-less it provides a nice touch to any event.
Announcements Made by DJ during Reception
At any reception there will be the need for the DJ to make an announcement or two, but many Bride & Grooms fear having a chatty DJ all night long (think Peter Kay spoofs). Whilst I have the experiece of using the microphone as a hospital radio DJ, I'm vary conscious that a Wedding DJ is a seperate role and requires a different approach on the mircophone.
Microphones for Speeches
The speeches form an important part of the wedding reception and it's only fair for everyone to expect to be able to hear what is being said, even the bad jokes. I can provide microphones and am happy to help those who aren't used to standing up in front of everyone with some advice prior to the speeches.
Wedding First Dance
The first dance forms an important part of a wedding, I want to ensure this runs smoothly and how you want it. I prefer to wait till you are ready and near to the dance floor to avoid any embarrasments of having to wait for either of you to walk across the room. For that extra special touch, how about getting someone special to you (eg the best man or matron of honour) to give you a personal introduction to truely make the moment magical.
Some couples prefer to invite others onto the dance floor during the song, either by announcement or agreement in advance with family / friends.
If you're struggling to think of which song to choose for the first dance, read my first dance suggestions based on choices by previous bridge & grooms.
It's Your Wedding Reception!
One of the most important things to remember is that your wedding day should be something that you enjoy, don't let the DJ ruin your reception.
